Calling All Budding Welders and Fabricators!
South Tyneside College are offering an exciting 12 traineeship opportunities for anyone aged 16-24 who does not currently hold a level 3 qualification to develop skills and experience in welding and fabrication. The traineeship will cover the following areas:
- Health & safety
- Basic measurements
- Abrasive wheels
- Safe use of guillotine
- Fabrication and welding
- Pipework systems
- Oxi-cutting
- Hand drawing and AutoCAD
- IOSHH
The traineeship programme also includes a chance to gain work experience with UTS Engineering, based in Jarrow. UTS specialise in pipeline services worldwide, including in the oil and gas industry.

A traineeship is an education and training programme with work experience that unlocks the great potential of young people and prepares them for their future careers by helping them to become ‘work ready’.
Designed to help young people aged 16 to 24 who don’t yet have the appropriate skills or experience, traineeships provide the essential work preparation training, English, maths and work experience needed to secure an apprenticeship or employment.
