In a separate event , Arlington Parks and Recreation eagerly said yes when asked if it would attend the career day at Ashbury Elementary and bring a couple pieces of equipment out that the children could see . The kids had a blast taking rides on the Gator , and watching the excavator spin around and the arm moving up and down .

The goal of the Block Party Trailer is to increase community engagement within neighborhoods throughout The American Dream City by providing a fun way for neighbors to get together . The trailer , available for free to neighborhoods , contains picnic tables , folding tables , chairs , water coolers , ice chests , trash and recycling cans , games , street barricades , cones and more .
“ Block parties are a great way for neighbors to meet in a casual , fun setting . We love to see our Arlington families connect and come to care for each other as well as for the overall health and vibrancy of their neighborhoods ,” Planner Anthony Cisneros said .
Eligible neighborhood groups wanting to reserve the trailer must submit an application at least seven days before their scheduled event to the City of Arlington ’ s Office of Strategic Initiatives department . If approved , the trailer will be dropped off the Friday before the party and picked up the Monday after .
