If the use of ‘ data ’ in my headline has meant that some readers have taken a deep breath , rolled their eyes and quickly turned the page , they may well regret it .

Today ’ s business environment doesn ’ t seem likely to improve any time soon . Conflict in Europe , continuing supply chain issues and labor shortages mean that understanding the key metrics around your warehouse operation , and how to improve them , is surely at the top of your agenda .
The days when warehouse operators , or indeed senior management across all supply chain organizations , were happy ‘ for things to be done the way they have always been done ’ have long gone .
The increased pressure to do more with less , to not only retain but increase profitability , is driving a need to understand how ‘ things can be done differently ’ to drive up levels of efficiency and productivity and retain competitive edge .
Using data for optimization
It ’ s all about the continuous improvement of your business processes so that your warehouse operations never stop evolving to be the best that they can be . The challenge for warehouse operators is that sometimes they just don ’ t know how to start to do things better . That ’ s where data comes in .
