The Outdoor Security Camera( EXM CAM-5200) is modeled as hardware _ PhysicalHardware because the primary subject of the Digital Product Passport is the physical device itself rather than a software package. As shown in Figure 2-1, ACME sources specialized components from multiple upstream suppliers, including a camera lens assembly, camera housing, image sensor, image processor with software, infrared( IR) LEDs, white-light LEDs, and a network communication module with embedded software. Each supplier operates one or more facilities that manufacture or process specific hardware components and software-enabled bundles before shipping them to ACME’ s assembly plant, where the final outdoor security camera hardware product is assembled, tested, packaged, and distributed through downstream channels such as distributors, installers / system integrators, and end customers.
Figure 2-1 represents the broader supply chain aggregated supply chain graph: organizations, facilities, products, logistics flows, and downstream recipients connected across the enterprise ecosystem. Each organization, facility, component, logistics movement, and manufacturing activity can be represented as nodes and relationships within a larger strategic graph that extends beyond any single product instance.
In SPDX 3.1 semantics, Bundles represent logical groupings of hardware and software elements that are integrated, transported, deployed, or consumed together. This differs from software _ Package elements, which represent discrete software artifacts. In this example, the“ Image Processor with Software” and“ Camera Network Module with Software” are modeled as Bundles because they combine physical hardware with associated embedded software.
