RisetoFame
Home and Away (2004)
Home and Away was one of his first acting jobs and he credits it as
the role that ‘allowed him to learn a lot about the industry’.
A Perfect Getaway (2009)
In this movie Chris strayed from the ‘dramatic’ soap opera genre
and demonstrated his diversity as an actor.
Thor (2011)
Chris was transformed from a supporting actor to lead superstar in the popular 2011 superhero film, Thor. Director Kenneth
Branagh faced major contemplation over whether or not to cast
him as the famous superhero. Chris took the role very seriously,
gaining 20 pounds and studying intense fighting styles. He played
Thor again in Joss Whedon’s mega hit Avengers Assemble (2012)
and in Marvel’s phase two of films, Thor: The Dark World (2013).
The Cabin in the Woods (2012)
Chris plays a character much younger than his actual age and in
this thriller once again proves his diversity as an actor.
Snow White and the Huntsman (2012)
The rise to fame was solidified when Hemsworth landed his role
among a star-studded cast, which included Charlize Theron and
Kristen Stewart. The part was turned down by Tom Hardy, Johnny
Depp, and Hugh Jackman.
Rush (2013)
The film, which follows the competitive 1976 Formula One season,
received rave reviews across the board, including much praise for
Chris himself.
