A War Against Yoga Pants The Republican from Missoula said tight-fitting beige clothing could be considered indecent exposure under his proposal. Moore said he wouldn’t have a problem with people being arrested for wearing provocative clothing. "Yoga pants should be illegal in public anyway," Moore said. Moore's proposal is in response to a naked bike ride that occurred in Missoula, Montana, in August. According to NBC Montana, more than 200 people participated in the ride. Currently, a person convicted of indecent exposure three times could be sentenced to life in jail and up to $10,000. In an effort to promote enforcement of the law, Moore said, the bill lessens that sentencing to not more than five years in jail and $5,000. Fashion A Montana lawmaker is seeking to strengthen the state’s indecent exposure law, stopping just short of his wish to outlaw yoga pants. The Republican introduced a bill that would extend the already-existing indecent exposure law to include any article of clothing that reveals the nipples -- men's or women's -- or "gives the appearance or simulates" one's buttocks, genitals or pelvic area. A first offense for violating Montana's indecent exposure law carries a fine of no more than $500 and six months in jail. A second offense carries up to $1,000 or one year in jail. Those punishments are unchanged in Moore's bill. “I want Montana to be known as a decent state where people can live within the security of laws and protect their children and associates from degrading and indecent practices,” Walt Hill, a retired professor in Missoula said in support of the measure. “I believe this bill is written preserving that reputation.” Source: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/02/11/david-moore-yoga-pants-montana_n_6661216.html?ncid=fcbklnkushpmg00000013 Source: http://billingsgazette.com/news/government-and-politics/montana-lawmaker-seeks-to-outlaw-yoga-pants/article_71538ba2-d529-5ec3-a289-108de20e9398.html#utm_source=billingsgazette&utm_ca
