From the earliest ages of fashion, there has been widespread criticism and praise for various fashion trends. Some we have laughed at in amusement, unsure of how this “art” came into existence and others are merely socially acceptable and thus we praise the craftsmanship that went into its creation. But 2015 surely is a year of change! We went trend-spotting at the NEW YORK FASHION WEEK where each and every holy cow of fashion was slaughtered. Apart from the Kardashians breaking the sacred Frow (known as the front row) by having a screaming baby placed next to Anna Wintour, the rest of the event ran without any fashion breakthroughs. Trends which were previously frowned upon seemed to make a comeback as hits for no apparent reason. But one thing is sure – we will be seeing these styles in South-Africa soon enough. The Elle Magazine reported the following: “Aside from North West's presence, the most exciting part of this season's Alexander Wang show was the footwear.” Footwear, may we add, that strongly reminds of the Spice Girl era, which is making a comeback as Wang debuted a hefty platform combat boot that was widely praised for its combination of comfort and style.
