Accessorising with a fashion belt If worn properly, like most accessories, a belt can highlight your best features while drawing attention from some of the body parts that you’re not so proud of. The best way to choose the perfect belt is to experiment with different widths and styles. Here are a few things you need to keep in mind when shopping for belts: As a general rule a medium sized belt about 2.5 - 5 centimeters thick is suitable for most body types. Women with a long torso should wear ‘’skinny’’ belts whereas those with a short torso should choose wider belts. For long torsos the placement of the belt is essential: place your belt 5 centimeters below the navel. If you have a short torso, try wearing a belt in the same colour as your outfit to avoid creating segmenting on your outfits. If you have pear shaped body your best bet is to wear a belt that emphasizes your waist. Avoid wearing large belts around your stomach area and choose a belt that has a width no larger than 1 centimetre. There are many variations that have been fashion premier over the years.
