My interview with Leila totally changed my perceptions of the usage of
alpaca wool. Designers are definitely not designing your run of the mill
grandmother sweater. Alpaca wool is used for high fashion items and in
Peru it’s already being compared to cashmere products. During my
recent visit to a fashion show where designers only used alpaca fiber I
was astounded to see dresses that could feature on a red carpet that
were made from alpaca fiber. Here are a few photos of the items that
can be purchased through Leila’s Godettes Peru company that also include work by local Peruvian designers.
I absolutely fell in love with alcapa designs and hopefully we’ll see more
of them featuring on catwalks all over the world. A special thanks to
