Gaining (ad) Vantage –

Palm’s Vantage touring jacket was a bit of a
revelation. When I first clapped eyes on it I wasn’t
sure when it would see use. And yet, outings have
been numerous and I now can’t do without it
during SUP touring missions.

I also tried the Vantage in small swell conditions.
Although it’s slightly restrictive when floating in the
drink (this isn’t a wetty after all) it still did the job of
keeping wind chill at bay after a dunking. Obviously it
wouldn’t be worn for full on surf sessions, but messing
about and general recreational paddling is fine.

If you’re a confident sweeper then a pair of shorts,
thermal long sleeve rash vest (such as Palm’s super
toasty Kaituna) and a Vantage jacket will be enough to
