Where are you mainly paddling these days , and why ? Still Kent-based – Planet Thanet for local surf when conditions are right . There are a lot of rivers in Kent and lakes for coaching or just getting those SUP miles in . Also East Sussex at the office in Worthing . Sometimes Bracklesham , Witterings , for surf south coast .
Talk to us about your favourite equipment and why . My main is the Fanatic Ray composite touring SUP . I ’ ve used this for my coastal paddles , general cruising , and party wave days . It ’ s a very versatile board that can be used in all conditions . The Allwave is my main wave board , or Stylemaster , which comes in as my joint second favourite .
What boards do you see others mainly using ? I see mostly inflatables being used – all types from the top end to the bottom end . It ’ s pretty chaotic in terms of iSUP choice . Still , to this day , I can rock up with a hard board , and many people don ’ t even know what a hard SUP board is or how the performance differs .
Do you still go on the road visiting retailers and events ? Yes , I still get to events , although there are not many big ones like NWF ( National Watersports Festival ) days . I really miss that . I mainly work with dealers and shops now , some of whom organise small events or SUP clubs .
My SUP socials , like Aloha SUP , Halloween SUP and Christmas Santa SUP , are still pretty strong .
