It ’ s time !

Summer holidays are here ! As I write , the schools have just kicked out for high season , and all the kids are high as kites . Even if you don ’ t have offspring , you can whiff the aroma of silly season in the air . And that means it ’ s SUP time !

The fact is ( not to sound downbeat ), we ’ re on the downward slide to autumn . Yes , already ! The longest day was back in June . Nights are now starting to draw in . And whilst you may think there ’ s all the time in the world , September will roll around quickly ( not quick enough for some , maybe . I jest ...).

My point is : if you ’ ve not been getting amongst it , this is your time . Grab that paddleboard , wing , foil or whatever and get afloat . There ’ s still early light in the morning for dawn raids . Although nights are getting shorter , opportunities for after-hours sessions are no less available . And with this being the holiday season , don ’ t forget to pack your gear when off on holibobs . Or , get gone to somewhere you can ride .

Now don ’ t get me wrong . I ’ m not suggesting watersports stop come autumn / winter . They don ’ t . But there ’ s much more incentive to get out in warmer months . Sunshine - even the liquid kind - is more pleasant than offseason weather for the majority .

Summer hols are also a great time to introduce others to SUP . Your kids , extended family or friends will more likely find motivation at this time of year for fun and frolics of the watery kind .
