A recreated historic village and museum, Dakota City’s fi ve-acre site includes 22 buildings. The village and museum are open for educa- tional programs, senior groups, celebrations and tours by reservation. Elko Speedway – A NASCAR-sanctioned racetrack, with a steeply banked paved 3/8-mile oval that allows two and three- wide racing. Dakota County Historical Society – Discover details about local history at the Dakota County Historical Soci- ety Research Library and Museum. Featured on display at the museum are over 25,000 objects, including many historical pictures. Permanent exhibits include “Old Town,” which includes a general store, boarding house, kitchen and jail in addition to many other rooms fi lled with artifacts and information about Dakota County’s past. Buck Hill — Located at 15400 Buck Hill Road, just west of I-35W, Buck Hill Ski Area offers skiing, snow- boarding, snow tubing, as well as summer activities such as bicycle racing.
