Apple Valley The city of Apple Valley is known for being a vibrant hub of shopping and recreational activity in Dakota County. Its central location make the numerous busi- nesses and attractions accessible to people in surround- ing cities, such as Burnsville, Eagan, Lakeville, Rose- mount and Farmington. Most of the regional draw starts at one of the busi- est intersections in the Twin Cities metro area at County Road 42 and Cedar Avenue. Surrounding this junc- tion are restaurants of a wide variety offering a slice of worldwide ethnic cuisine and American standards. One can also fi nd nearly every kind of shopping desire from major retailers to niche businesses offering unique items. Apple Valley is home to a range of amenities, includ- ing the state-operated Minnesota Zoo and the city-run Valleywood Golf Course, Apple Valley Aquatic Center, Redwood Community Pool, Apple Valley Community Center, Apple Valley Senior Center and 53 parks. The city has been named one of the most bike-friendly cit- ies in the nation and it scores well on transit options as the Apple Valley Transit Station is one of the busiest in the state. The addition of the Red Line Bus Rapid Tran- sit service that runs throughout the day in a loop from Apple Valley to the Mall of America offers residents a new way to commute for work or fun. Apple Valley has scored well in past surveys for be- ing a place that has options for seniors, commuters and young people to fi nd recreation, access to transportation and affordable housing.
