The Pond – The ice arena at 3400 150th St. is open
to hockey players of all levels using a 3-on-3 model for
full-ice development. It has a dryland facility for off-ice

Apple Valley Aquatic Center – The Apple Valley
Aquatic Center is a city-run water park that features wa-
terslides, a “Lazy River,” four 25-meter lap pool lanes,
a sand water play area, locker rooms and food stands.

Dakota Woods Dog Park – A 16-acre, fenced, wooded
park for dogs to run and exercise off leash. To purchase a
required annual pass, go to Parks Department at Dako-
ta County Western Service Center, 14955 Galaxie Ave.,
Apple Valley, third fl oor or by phone 952-891-7000. The
park is located in Empire Township, east of Rosemount
on County Road 46 and south on Blaine Avenue. For

Whitetail Woods Regional Park – Dakota County’s
newest park, the 456-acre Whitetail Woods Regional
Park is located in Empire Township in the center of
Dakota County, one mile north of the Vermillion Riv-
er, at 17100 Station Trail. Among its amenities are the
Empire Lake Shelter, Whitetail Woods Camper Cabins
and Fawn Crossing Nature Play Area. It accommodates
activities such as camping in its treehouse-like cabins,
hiking, cross country skiing, sledding, snowshoeing,
and picnicking. It is open daily 8 a.m.-10 p.m. For more

Vermillion Highlands – Vermillion Highlands is a
2,822-acre research, recreation and wildlife manage-
ment area southeast of Highway 3 and County Road 46
