VERMILLION RIVER PARK
Catch outdoor fun, fi sh in Farmington
Farmington boasts more than 20 city parks with 900-
plus acres of green space to enjoy. Some of the most sce-
nic parts town are centered around the Vermillion River,
which winds through the city and offers trout fi shing.
Rambling River Park, 17 Elm St., is the city’s largest
park with 58 acres that includes tennis courts, a sand
volleyball court, ice skating and warming house, play-
ground equipment, baseball and softball fi elds, and bike
trails. A new Farmington Area Veterans Memorial was
dedicated in the park in 2014. The Vermillion River is
the largest stream in Dakota County. The river is one of
the few places in the southern Twin Cities metro area
where people can catch trout. The city provides public
access within Rambling River Park. Brown and Rain-
bow Trout are present. The Minnesota Department of
Natural Resources stock the river with Rainbow Trout
each year in the spring.
North Creek Park, Upper 182nd Street and Dunbury
Avenue, has a lighted hockey and ice rink, warming
house and wooded area.
Prairie Waterway Greenway, 821 13th St., offers 95.4
acres of walking and biking trails that are ideal for in-
line skating, fi shing, and a large gazebo with picnic ta-
bles that can be rented.
Depot Ways Arts Park, in the heart of downtown
Farmington at County Highway 50 and Second Street,
is an art sculpture park. Numerous sculptures and art
pieces by local students enhance a brick path that winds
its way around fl ower gardens and shade trees.
Evergreen Knoll Park, 626 Heritage Way, offers vol-
leyball, playground equipment for toddler, preschool
and school-aged children, a large shelter, picnic tables
and restrooms and running water.
City park or shelter rental is available from May 1 to
Oct. 1. Picnic shelters can be reserved for family gath-
erings, company picnics, reunions and other group
events. Drop off a completed reservation form with fee
payment at City Hall, 430 Third St.

The Rambling River Center, which is a community
senior center at 325 Oak St. The center is a drop-in fa-
cility providing programming for adults ages 50 and
older. Membership is not required, but is encouraged.
