English muffins are unsweetened yeast-
leavened buns in a shape of flat rounds,
cooked in a dry frying pan. They are
traditionally served warm for breakfast.
Muffins combine perfectly with something
sweet or salty. The recipe is very easy as well.
Ingredients:
500 g flour
1 pack fresh yeast
250 ml milk
80 ml warm water
2 tbsp. salt
1 tbsp. sugar
60 g butter
1 egg

STEP 1
Combine water, yeast and sugar, mix it up and
let rest for a couple of minutes. Heat the milk
over medium, melt the butter in it. Remove
from the heat, allow to cool to room
temperature.
STEP 2
Pour the yeast mixture in the milk, mix it up.
Pour the mixture into the flour, mix up. Then
add the rest of the ingredients. Knead the
dough. Cover and put in a warm place until the
dough rises twice.
STEP 3
Sprinkle the work surface with flour. Roll out
the dough to 1 cm thick. Cut out circles with a
diameter of 7-8 cm. Slightly press them down,
put on parchment sheets. Cover and leave for
30 min.
STEP 4
Heat a dry pan. Bake muffins under the lid
over medium heat for 5-10 min. Flip muffins
over, press them lightly with a spatula, bake
for another 5-10 minutes.
