Scone

So, what is a scone? Basically, it is a kind
of "quick bread", with the birthplace in equally
considered to be Scotland and South-East
England. This “bread” is baked of unleavened
dough; the traditional types of flour for
making scones are barley, wheat and oatmeal.
The original scones were completely
different of how we imagine it now – they were
round and flat, usually as large as a medium-
sized plate, which were baked of oatmeal and
cut into triangular sections for serving.
There is a great variety of scones,
which, to a certain degree, vary in types in
different countries and regions. For example,
British scones can be both sweet (with various
dried fruits) and savory (with bacon and
cheese), and in Scotland and Northern Ireland
they are often baked with the use of soda.
British scones are usually cut into two
pieces and spread inside with one of your
favorite fillings. It can be butter, jam,
marmalade or whipped cream. I most like the
following way of serving the scones. Cut a
scone into two pieces, spread one half with
cream cheese mixed with butter in the
proportion of 1:1, salted with a pinch of salt.
Spread the second half with raspberry or
strawberry jam. Then combine the two halves
together and enjoy it in an unspeakable
happiness!
The amount of ingredients is designed
for 10-12 scones.
The preparatory process is 10 minutes.
The baking time is 15-20 minutes.

SUNRISE
Ingridients:
Flour (450 gr)
Butter (55 gr)
Milk (250 ml)
Sugar (2 tbsp.)
Baking powder (2 tbsp.)
Salt (1/2 tsp.)
Egg (1 pc) - optional
Method
Mix the dry ingredients - flour, sugar,
baking powder and salt.
Add cold butter and mix it with dry
ingredients using your hands.
Make a recess and pour in the milk. Mix up
the dough well.
Put the dough on the surface, sprinkled
with flour.
Roll out the dough to a layer of about 2
cm thick.
Take a glass of diameter about 7 cm and
cut out circles from the dough.
Put the future scones on a baking sheet
covered with baking paper and grease each of
the scones with a beaten egg. If you have no
eggs at home, you can skip this step.
Put the baking sheet in the preheated
oven of 180 degrees for 15-20 minutes. As soon
as the scones have risen and browned, they can
be taken out of the oven and served with butter
or jam.
