This February was full of memorable
events for the SUNRISE English Magazine, and
our whole team was proud to be a part of
them. Aiming at maintaining the literary line in
the content we star ted a successful

department of the Russian Writers' Union, the
head of which is a famous poetess and writer
Galina Odintsova. She, being a chief editor of
the “Green Lamp” literary almanac, initiated
our joint work on publications and their
translation into English. Also, we made a
decision to unite our creative potential to
organize various cultural and poetical events
in future.
Thus, on the 3d of February SUNRISE
editorial board was invited to participate in
the presentation of the February issue of the
“Green Lamp” almanac and read short winter
stories in English in public. There were the local
cultural intellectuals, well-known local writers,
artists and journalists among the guests who
attended the reunion. We had prepared the
translation of some stories beforehand and
spent a lot of time in rehearsals to train
ourselves to the artistic reading. So, on the
day of the event we told the guests about our
magazine and performed on stage. The
students of the FFL (Ekaterina Zharikova, Arina
Subbocheva, Anastasia Gavrilenko, Polina
Shevko, Maria Aleksandrova) and Lyceum BSPU
(Marina Kunitskaya, Elizaveta Chernysheva,
Aleksey Pilipenko, Anton Lesnik) played their
parts in a perfect manner and got a positive
r e v i e w. F u r t h e r m o r e, we b r o u g h t t h e
illustrations to the texts we read, that were
made by Maria Gerasimenko, Polina Ermizina,
Anasatasia Gavrilenko and Arina Subbocheva.
It`s worth mentioning that all the stories
were written by ordinary people, selected by
the jury and submitted to the “Winter Melody”
contest on Amur.Info. Each of them is full of
world wisdom, love and warmth. Their reading
restores the belief in beauty and makes one
think about the core life values. So, it was our
pleasure to translate some of them and
immerse ourselves in the world of thought-
provoking plots.
The pages of SUNRISE are always open
to new collaborations and friends and now we
are happy to continue the development of our
work with the Russian Writers' Union!
