Covid , Technology , Adiós

It took us by surprise , totally unprepared , skeptical , cynical .
It seemed like suddenly , rumors , were all over us : “ fake news ”? “ government conspiracy ”? “ bunch of lies ”.
Some spoke out while others remained silent . Some were distrustful , while others ’ faith became stronger .
It made us feel so fragile , anxious , weak , afraid , and desperate as time went by .
Today , eleven months have passed since Covid locked us at home . But like the phoenix bird , we are slowly rising from the ashes . It is not over yet , but light begins to be seen at the end of the tunnel .
We are finding ways to keep our personal wellness alive , to reconnect with family and friends . We are now trying to focus on the positive aspects of life that we had taken for granted as a consequence of our stressful daily routines .
Covid also forced everyone to take a deeper dive at learning all the technology that had been available to us but was not fully used or mastered by some . We became familiar with terms like home office , distance learning , webinars , zoom , loom , screencastify , go formative , etc , etc . We learned to help each other , to update our skills , and to adapt to the world around us regardless of age or generation . The lesson learned here is that after all this chaos comes to an end , most humans would have become more digital in this changing world surrounded by technology .
Every year , the creation and design of the SUNDIAL magazine is difficult , since this class is not about Journalism , English , or Computers . But in August , we realized it was going to be a bigger challenge !
As usual , we had a slow beginning but a steady pace and were fully motivated to come up with a good product , not only to continue the tradition , but to feel that the job would be done . One more year in which I feel proud and surprised to see what students can accomplish . From the collaboration displayed by both my MUN11 and MUN11 Secretariat to write articles , to seeing how Chief editors and Department heads went through brainstorming and discussing to reach together agreements for the benefit of the magazine . It was amazing to also see how the Cover page contest was able to discover artists in the digital world .
Thanks MUN11 for not giving up under such unique circumstances that have been presented to us this school year . Thanks for your effort , your enthusiasm , and for keeping in mind that in our MUN program we believe in doing things together , in helping each other , besides maturing through trial and error .
This is definitely a year that will leave a mark in our world , and our lives . I feel in my heart that in spite of the roller coaster moments lived during Covid , and the full impact of the digital world , this SUNDIAL and IMMUNS 2021 are , after all , a positive , refreshing , enlightening way to say goodbye to the MUN program . “ Adios mis queridos alumnos ”.
