WINNING CAMPAIGNS FROM AFRICA
Woolworths WRewards’ Are You With Us campaign was recently named Best Loyalty Programme Marketing Campaign of the Year in The Loyalty Magazine Awards 2016 in London.
The campaign – which featured Grammy Award-winning musician, record producer and philanthropist Pharrell Williams – was designed to recognise and reward customers for their loyalty and to help“ make sustainability cool” for the next generation of South Africans.
The campaign raised R400 000 for the Red Cross Children’ s Hospital. It also established the R100-million For Education drive in partnership with MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet, which was named Best Loyalty Programme of the Year in the Middle East and Africa region in the awards for its MyPlanet Rhino campaign. To date, the initiative has raised more than R5-million for rhino conservation in South Africa.
NEW SERVICE TO BENEFIT USERS AND OWNERS OF LOYALTY PROGRAMMES
CASHBACK SHOPPING APP CATCHES ON
Within about a year of launching, a Cape Townbased start-up has more than 125 000 users who have shared a total of almost R1-million cash back. SNAPnSAVE gives shoppers money back on everyday items when they photograph relevant till slips using the company’ s app.
SNAPnSAVE, which has been ranked the number-one shopping app in Apple store and number-one lifestyle app in Google Play Store, works with brands that promote specific products on the app. Once they’ ve provided proof of having purchased the items via the app – they can shop wherever they choose – users are rewarded by receiving money back.
The key, says SNAPnSAVE CEO Mark Bradshaw, is to make it easy for users to peruse items, buy them, submit claims and enjoy the reward of getting some money back.
“ We focus on three key points,” he says.“ First, we made the platform simple. Second, we ensure that we feature great products that appeal to shoppers, so that they always find something they like. And third, we provide excellent customer service. We’ re determined not to be just an app on your phone – we want to hear from our users.”
SNAPnSAVE, which until recently relied almost entirely on social media and word of mouth for growth, is currently working on a new“ smart shopping list” feature, which, says Bradshaw, will help shoppers get more cash back based on purchases of their favourite items.
Due to be launched officially within months, OnePoint is a service provider to the South African loyalty industry, which will use customised technology to advance loyalty programmes to the benefit of both owners and users.
The system will provide programme owners with the opportunity to advance the reach, impact, engagement and use of their loyalty programmes. OnePoint will offer members of programmes easy-touse, one-stop online access( both on mobile devices and desktops) to all their loyalty programmes at no cost.
They will be able to do things like register, update contact details, view points and balances, transfer points( where loyalty programmes partner with other initiatives), view special offers and report lost cards. The idea is to provide a platform for quick, easy and efficient management of all loyalty programmes.
“ The service will simplify consumers’ interactions with loyalty programmes and the brands behind them,” says Deon Olivier of Tritech Media, which owns OnePoint.“ It allows consumers to have all their loyaltyprogramme affairs with them in one place( on their phone) all the time.
“ Essentially, we’ re developing a service designed to help make loyalty programmes excel by allowing increased engagement and activity by members, and improved housekeeping, tracking and communication for programme owners.”
