Country life near the Twin Cities

You will be hard-pressed to find elsewhere country living and metro amenities like those offered in Carver County. Carver County is a growing county that as of the 2020 Census is called home by approximately 106,922 citizens.
Situated just southwest of the Twin Cities, Carver County is home to 11 cities and 11 townships.
The county has seen tremendous growth over the last several decades, more than doubling its population since the 1990 population of 47,915.
Between 2000 and 2010, the county gained more 20,000 new residents, an increase of nearly 300 percent. Much of the population growth is taking lace in the eastern part of the county – in the cities of Chaska, Chanhassen, and Victoria – while the rest of the county continues to maintain its small-town atmosphere and agricultural tradition.
The county seat is Chaska, part of the rapidly growing area of the county, an area that is expected to continue developing thanks to expansions of Hwy. 212, which are ongoing. The Carver County Government Center is located at 600 E. Fourth St. in Chaska. David Hemze is the county administrator. The Carver County Board of
Commissioners consists of five members representing five districts.
Waconia is located in District 4, which is represented by Tim Lynch, who has served in the role since 2004.
The other commissioners are Tom Workman, Matt Udermann, John P. Fahey, and Gayle Degler. Degler is the current board chair.
The Government Center also houses the Carver County Justice Center Building, which includes the courts, the Carver County Sheriff’ s Office, and the county jail.
Mark Metz is the county attorney. His office is responsible for the legal representation of the Carver County Board of Commissioners and the legal interests and concerns of all other county departments. This office also prosecutes all criminal offenses committed in the county, with the exception of municipal ordinance violations. Jason Kamerud is the sheriff of Carver County. His office’ s primary concern is the safety and well-being of all persons and property in Carver County. Waconia, like most county cities and townships, contracts with the county sheriff’ s office for law enforcement.
