Cologne is a growing community
Cologne, which is located in the middle of Carver County, has a long history of tradition dating to 1881 when the area was two communities: Benton and Cologne. The community ultimately became Cologne and grew from there.
The population of the city is just over 2,000 currently, and with the recent construction of new homes, officials anticipate by the time 2030 comes along the city will be over 2,100 residents.
Located on Highway 212, Cologne offers residents, businesses and visitors a location that, in our opinion, is second to none. Just 20 minutes from Eden Prairie and 35 minutes to downtown Minneapolis, the community allows residents to get where they need to be in a very short time but also escape the busy life of the bigger city.
Several businesses call Cologne home, employing many of the best at what they do. Any company looking to expand or relocate would find the community very friendly, helpful and eager to work.
As a community, Cologne offers many opportunities to raise a family in an environment that shares a passion of caring and helpfulness. The city has great neighborhoods to live in and homes that fit all types of lifestyles. In the center of the city is Benton Lake, a place that the city and community leaders are working together to revitalize. A walking path makes its way around a good portion of the lake and connects the city from
North to South. The fishing pier is a great place for the kids to fish and for people to hang out and watch the sunset.
One of the more recent improvements to the city came when lights were installed at Fritz Field in 2014. The addition of lights has enabled the Cologne Hollanders and other ball clubs to hold night games, drawing many fans to a beautiful city for a great night of baseball.
The City of Cologne has many parks for use by the residents and guests. You can have a picnic, family reunion, ball games or just spend time letting the kids run around.
The city installed a splash pad at City Square Park in summer 2016. Each year, the city is host to the Glad Days festival.
The Community Center offers a gym that can transform into a great facility to host a large event such as a wedding reception, anniversary party, graduation party, baby or bridal shower, community functions and birthday parties. The fitness center offers a low cost option to work out with top of the line equipment and 24 / 7 access. Insurance reimbursement is a benefit that is provided to eligible fitness members. Cologne now offers credit card bill pay for your convenience for your rental fees, license and permit fees and utility bills.
