The fi - nal will be Friday, March 8 at the better seed at 7 p.m. Hockey Section fi nals abound this week with the major- ity of games on Feb. 27 and the fi nal few played on Feb. 28. The state boys hockey tourna- ment begins Wednesday, March 6, with four Class A games starting at 11 a.m. and the last game scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Class AA follows on Thursday, March 7 with games from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Semifi nals will be played Friday with the Class A games at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. followed by the Class AA games at 6 and 8 p.m. The Class A champi- onship is at noon on Sat- urday, March 9, followed by the Class AA champi- onship at 7 p.m. All consolation round games will be played at 3M Arena at Mariucci. Blake skaters ease Red Knights oust past Raiders 5-1 Stars from tourney The Blake School’s boys hockey team rocked Cretin-Derham Hall 5-1 in the fi rst round of the Section 6AA Tourna- ment on Blake’s Hopkins Campus. The Bears entered the playoffs as the fourth seed and Cretin-Derham Hall was seeded fi fth. Aksel Reid starred in goal for Blake, stopping 27 of 28 shots on net. Tristan Broz led the Bears with two goals, while teammates Joe Miller, Lachen Reid and Blake Weyerhaeuser Catholic rivals Benilde- St. Margaret’s and Holy Angels hooked up in the opening round of the Sec- tion 6AA Boys Hockey Tournament Feb. 21 at St. Louis Park Rec Center. With two goals from junior forward Charlie Warnert, BSM won 7-1. Six different players had goals for the second- seeded Red Knights. In addition to Warnert’s goals, BSM had scores from Cooper Gay, Charlie Bischel, Nate scored one each. HFC’s boys hockey for- tunes rode with the hot goalie, who stopped all 31 of Prior Lake’s shots on goal. One of those shots was a penalty shot late in the contest.
