(In accordance with the USGA) Effective date: February 4, 2020 Sun ‘N Lake Local Rules Alternative to Stroke and Distance Penalty for a Lost Ball or a Shot Hit Out-Of-Bounds: A player may drop a ball anywhere between where the original ball was believed to come to rest (for out-of-bounds, use the spot where the ball last crossed the OB margin) and just into the edge of the fairway, but no nearer the hole. The player takes a two-stroke penalty and plays on instead of returning to where the player last made a stroke. This local rule will mimic the player’s score if the player had hit a decent provisional ball. Turtle Run Penalty Areas: All Scrub and pine straw areas will be played as a penalty area. The penalty area margins are defined by the outer most edge of the general area grass line that is maintained by a mower. Deer Run Penalty Areas: The water retention areas on the right side of holes 4, 6, and 7 and the entire right sides of 5, 8, and 9 will be played as a penalty area with the margin defined as the outer most edge of the general area grass line that is maintained by a mower. In addition, the left side of 7 and the areas behind the green on holes 13 and 14 will be played as a penalty area with the same margin definition. Opposite Margin of the Red Penalty Area for #5 Turtle Run : You may take relief on the opposite margin of the penalty area equal distance from the hole (take a drop in the relief area 2 club lengths from the reference point no closer to the hole). A one shot penalty will apply. Crushed Shell Areas: All crushed shell areas, including all beginnings / ends of the cart paths, will be included in the general area and free relief will NOT be granted. Wooden Retaining Walls: (Turtle Run # 1 and Deer Run # 18) Wooden retaining walls are classified as immovable obstructions and FULL relief (swing & stance) will be granted. It may be lifted without penalty and dropped in the relief area within one club length of the reference point. Cart Paths and Service Roads: You may take relief from all CONTRETE cart paths and the service roads on the right side of Deer Run #9 and the left side of Deer #11. It may be lifted without penalty and dropped in the relief area within one club length of the reference point. Worn down areas and shelled areas outside the normal area of the path will be in the general area of the golf course and no relief will be granted. Tire Tracks: If your ball comes to rest in a FULLY IDENTIFIED tire track in the general area, you may take relief (take a drop in the relief area one club length from the reference point no closer to the hole). This local rule does not apply if you are in a penalty area. Landscaped Areas & White Rocks (NOT including crushed shell areas): Landscaped areas are defined as the decorative plant areas surrounding the tee sign on each hole. This includes the hedges left of the 12 th green on Deer Run. The white rocks can be found lining certain areas of the cart paths and surrounding several trees on each course. Free relief will be granted from these areas and it may be lifted without penalty and dropped in the relief area within one club length of the reference point no closer to the hole. Staked Trees: A player must take free relief if any part of the tree interferes with the lie of the ball or the player’s stance and swing. Aeration Holes and Cut Lines Defining the Margin of the Green: Relief will be granted, for lie of the ball only, no closer to the hole, if your ball comes to rest in one of these areas. 10
