Maturity Assessments Building on the success of the Procurement Maturity Assessment Programme that SUMS developed with Southern Universities Purchasing Consortium, SUMS is developing further structured and comprehensive frameworks for assessing the maturity of university professional services. The models are based on SUMS’ sector knowledge and are being built with Members – drawing upon their expertise and experience. The maturity models utilise benchmarking and will realise benefits that include: • A diagnostic tool for senior leads that delivers a route-map and prioritise areas for development against which progress can be tracked • An evidence base to inform internal team discussions and help build team consensus around areas for development • The potential for an independently verified assessment and sector comparison • Building a business case that gets internal buy-in. Models in development are: Marcomms, HR, Finance and Porters and Cleaners, Academic Registry and Student Services. Activities www.sums.org.uk 67
