The Price of Freedom

The pursuit of freedom has been a constant theme throughout history. But freedom does not come without a cost. The men and women who have fought for our freedom have paid this price with their time, their energy and even with their lives.
Yet eternal freedom for all humanity is only possible through one Man. This Man did not come equipped with earthly weapons, because rather than defeat those who oppose Him, He came to die for them.
According to Romans 5:8-10,“ God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.... For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life”( NKJV).
Because of God’ s unfathomable love for us, God sent His Son to give His life for all who have sinned against Him. Romans 3:23 says,“ For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’ s glorious standard.” In other words, Jesus didn’ t die for certain people— He died for all mankind, because everyone has sinned.
According to Romans 6:23,“ The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Although the debt we owe for our sin is eternal death, Christ came to free us from the bondage of sin and give us life, through His death. 1 Corinthians 15:3b-4 says that Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again on the third day. Because He is God, Jesus did what we as slaves to sin could not do for ourselves.
Since Jesus paid the price of freedom for us, it is only through Him that you can have salvation from the penalty of sin and be reconciled to a holy and righteous God( Acts 4:12). If you would like to have God’ s gift of salvation, you may use the following prayer as a guide to express your heart’ s desire to God:
Dear God, I know that I am a sinner. Thank You for sending Your perfect Son to die in my place. I know that it is only through His sacrificial death on the cross and resurrection from the dead that I am able to have freedom from the penalty of sin and a new life in You. I now accept Your gift of salvation. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen
If you have accepted God’ s gift of salvation, please let us know so we can encourage you and pray for you. To learn more about the Christian life, we suggest reading the Gospel of John in the New Testament.
