WATCH THE ACTION
Rhode Islanders are passionate about their sports. Whether we are rooting on the Bryant University Bulldogs on the soccer field, or the Providence
Bruins on the hockey rink, we love to watch competitors in action.
During the RI Summer of Soccer, ™ Providence will be featuring a Fan Zone with dancing, music, food and of course, giant screens to watch the big games. There will also be PUMA’ s™ House of Portugal fan activation zone with athlete and celebrity appearances, viewing experiences, fan engagement events and retail. RI Summer of Soccer™ watch parties and community celebrations will be sprinkled throughout the state. Visit risummerofsoccer. com for a full list of events.
Did you know that for half a century, the New York Yacht Club defended the America’ s Cup trophy in Narragansett Bay? With 400 miles of coastline, Rhode Island is a coveted location for sailing. Eight of those America’ s Cup defenders were produced by the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company in Bristol. Now in place of the manufacturing plant stands a collection of more than sixty boats, a model room and library that are open to the public. The Herreshoff Marine Museum( herreshoff. org) also hosts classes, lectures and a regatta.

If you enjoy having the wind in your hair and a spectacular view of the bay, step aboard a boat charter or rent your own boat to see why Rhode Island is a coveted location for boaters. Charters and rentals are plentiful along the bay. If you prefer having someone else at the helm, the nonprofit environmental group Save The Bay( savebay. org) will offer a seven-hour tour of up to twenty lighthouse sites in Narragansett Bay on June 20.
Smaller watercraft are also available for classes and rentals throughout the state. Kayaks can be rented inland along the coast in Watch Hill and on Block Island, on the Narrow River in Narragansett and up the bay into Providence, Lincoln and Central Falls. Follow the Blueways Trail( explorer. org) for guided kayak and canoe trips through salt marshes, tidal rivers and hidden coves.
