ROAM THE ZOO— A HOME FOR ENDANGERED SPECIES When you visit Roger Williams Park Zoo, you are helping to bolster the conservation work that the zoo staff performs daily trying to save and protect animals around the world. A visit with African elephants and Masai giraffes in the Fabric of Africa area, a walk through Marco Polo’ s adventure trek to see moon bears, snow leopards and red pandas or a stop in the World of Adaptations with the river otters and binturong means you and your family are learning about the plight of species from all corners of the Earth. Step into the Faces of the Rainforest exhibit and experience a tropical paradise right here in Rhode Island with beautiful macaws, a giant anteater, a variety of primates( including Howler and Titi monkeys), interesting amphibians and intriguing reptiles. Also take advantage of the zoo’ s Wild Connections program which offers opportunities for private animal encounters.
EXPLORE AND SOAR Available as a part of the Return of the Dinosaurs series( occurring through Aug. 10), make a stop at the Explore and Soar area. Enjoy a family-friendly excursion aboard a train through the woodlands. Then, fly 115 feet in the air on the Soaring Eagle Zip Ride and get a breathtaking bird’ s eye view of the zoo and the Providence cityscape.
SUMMER HAPPENINGS The zoo is jam-packed with fun events throughout the summer. The eleventh season of Food Truck Friday, occurring through Sept. 25, hosts a variety of the best local food trucks at Carousel Village. Attendance to the Zoobilee! Party with a Purpose allows guests to indulge in delicious bites from local restaurants and tasty cocktails; sample hundreds of beers and other beverages at Brew at the Zoo. Proceeds from the two twenty-one-plus events benefit the zoo’ s conservation efforts. Dino at Dusk features sixty life-size animatronic dinosaurs, taking you back in time to when these great creatures roamed the Earth. Visit the website to find more events and attractions. rwpzoo. org
