MESSAGE FROM THE PARK BOARD PRESIDENT

DANIEL PETERSON
Commissioner since 2011

Dear friends and neighbors ,

We are finally approaching a full return to programming and events this summer ! We can ’ t wait for you to join us as we bring back our cherished summertime traditions .
Summer camps , concerts in the park , Dairy Festival , Pioneer Day … all of your favorites are back this year . As a two-time Park Center Sprint Triathlete myself , I am especially pleased to see the return of the Park Center Sprit Triathlon on July 24 , with 350 participants anticipated for its 20th edition , after a two-year hiatus .
Plan now to stay local for our July 4th festivities , as these will be back in full force this year . Join us for our traditional parade down Glenview Road with floats , a bike parade , entertainers , live music , giveaways and more . End your evening with the Glenview Bank & Trust ® Twilight Fireworks Show synchronized to music . Glenview ’ s biggest celebration of the year is possible thanks to many dedicated volunteers and financial contributions from our local businesses and residents .
Speaking of financial support , I am pleased to share with you that Glenview Bank & Trust has agreed to become a Glenview Park District Park Partner for the next four years . Through this partnership , they will be supporting many events and programs year-round , enabling the park district to provide even more enriching experiences to our community . Look for them at many of our key summertime events , and join us in thanking them for their investment in Glenview .
The Grove has been awarded a $ 375,000 Illinois Public Museum Capital Grant to develop Phase 2 of the Interpretive Center exhibits . The remarkable story of Robert Kennicott ’ s life and achievements are currently being told through the exhibits in the Interpretive Center , recently renovated in Phase 1 as part of the referendum project , which was completed in 2020 .
