LEARN TO SPEED SKATE Learn to speedskate , fun for the whole family ! From pond to podium , speedskating is a sport where all can experience the thrill of speed and the camaraderie of the skating community . Under the coaching of Northbrook Speedskating Club , learn the basics of speed skating , such as position , straightaway , corners and starts . After learning the basics , participants will have the skills needed to join the team . All levels are welcome . Figure , hockey or speed skates can be worn , while gloves , shin guards , a neck guard and helmet are required . Ages 5 through Adult are welcome .
