Eat and drink what you like , sit back , and enjoy and evening with Rae Slowik , Education Coordinator , with the Lombard Historical Society as we learn about A Freedom Seeker named " Charley ," ( located at least seven times in the historic record all over Illinois ), who had links to abolitionists such as Sheldon Peck . But what do we really know about Charley ? Stories of the Underground Railroad across Illinois , through Charley ' s perspective , provides insight into the injustice inherent within the institution of slavery .

Historian , reenactor , and Grove employee , Mitch Ransdell , goes beyond what we learn in history books , breaks through that museum glass , and brings history to life with his narrative of a soldier ' s Civil War experiences . Mitch uses photographs , artifacts- including uniforms , weaponry , and accoutrements of battle and camp life in his entertaining performance and educational presentation .
