Academic Camps
MATH BRAINS AT WORK
This camp is filled with games and activities that will engage every rising
second grader’s math brain! The best way to learn and practice math is by
using concrete materials, manipulatives, and real-life situations; a fun, effective
way to do this is through playing math games. At the end of the week, each
camper will take home a folder full of learning games and manipulatives to
continue building math confidence. To enroll in this camp, students must have
successfully completed a first grade level math class.

WONDERFUL WORDS
This exciting program is designed to immerse children in focused reading and
writing activities. This full-day camp addresses the literacy needs of children
at all levels of ability. Reading instruction is designed to build decoding skills,
fluency, comprehension, and an understanding of how to choose appropriate
reading material. Writing instruction is focused on the quality of storytelling
and the mechanics of writing. Daily word work builds skills in phonemic
awareness, phonics, spelling, and handwriting. This camp specializes in
individual, small-group, and whole-group instruction with a low teacher-to-
child ratio. Students should bring a packed lunch each day.
