his year, Dr. Jeannette C. Holmes-
Vann and the Hope Chapel family
celebrated our triumphal entry
i nto 45 years of min istry. Fo r t h e
past 44 years this ministry has been Changing
Minds, Changing Lives, and Renewing Hope
for individuals at home and around the world,
enabling us to accomplish Olympian feats
w e n ever im agin e d p o ssible . It has e n a b le d
u s t o devel op, gro w a n d beco me spiri t u a lly
fit for kingdom use and spiritual warfare.
O u r P a s t o r, l i k e a l l O l y m p i c c h a m p i o n s ,
has triumphed over defeat. She overcame
many hurdles and realized that no matter
what accomplishments you make, some-
body helps you. She can be compared to
many of the great Olympians of the past.
One great Olympic Champion who comes
t o m i n d a s w e t h i n k a b o u t P a s t o r Va n n i s
Wilma Rudolph. Wilma was the 20th of 22
c h i l d ren. She co n tra cte d infa n tile para ly s is
when she was 4 years old. This unlikely can-
d i d a t e becam e the first A me rican wo ma n t o
win three gold metals in track and field at
a s i n gl e O l ym pic in 1960. Likewise , A p o s t le
Va n n w a s a n u n l i k e l y c a n d i d a t e t h a t G o d
c h o s e to pl ay a ro le in the Je sus mo veme n t
that was sweeping America in the 1970s.

the world upside down with the Gospel. Like
Wilma, Apostle Jeannette C. Holmes-Vann is
a t r a i l b l a z e r. A d d i t i o n a l l y, P a s t o r Va n n d i d
n o t g e t d i s c o u r a g e d e a r l y i n t h e m i n i s t r y,
when the seven-member church was reduced
to two. She continued to run on with the
vision that is now Hope Chapel Ministries.
Like Wilma Rudolph, Pastor was not dis-
couraged or deterred. Rather, she was moti-
vated to overcome and triumph. You can too!
In all Olympic Games incredibly con-
ditioned athletes from around the world
come together to compete, They captivate
o u r a t t e n t io n a n d a p p e a l t o o u r lon g i n g s f o r
global friendship. But what makes an Olympic
a t h l e t e ? I s i t a g i l i t y, a d e v e l o p e d s k i l l a n d
a b i l i t y, t h e c o m p e t e n c e o f a c o m p e t i t i v e
c o a c h , o r is t h e re mo re b e h in d t h o s e m o n u -
mental moments of success? As the games
unfold, so do some of the most incredible
s t o rie s o f d e t e rmin e d , t e s t e d , t rie d i n d i v i d u -
a ls wh o ma d e t h e c h o ic e t o s t a y t h e c o u r s e ;
to discipline their bodies and minds year after
year. That is the making of an Olympic athlete.
