GARRICK VOIGT
Garrick Voigt is a staff attorney for the South Central Judicial District, where he advises district court judges on legal issues arising in matters heard by North Dakota’ s courts of general jurisdiction. He is also a captain and judge advocate in the North Dakota Army National Guard
( NDARNG), where he currently serves as defense counsel representing and advising soldiers facing administrative actions. He also serves as president-elect of the Young Lawyers Section of the State Bar Association of North Dakota( SBAND).
He later served as a staff attorney with the Office of the State Court Administrator under the North Dakota Supreme Court, where he worked with SBAND, members of the bench and bar, legislators, and private-sector stakeholders on statewide legal initiatives, including staffing the Guardianship Monitoring Task Force and the Lawyer Licensing Task Force and participating in the drafting workgroup for N. D. Sup. Ct. Admin. R. 59.1.
Voigt lives in Bismarck with his spouse, two children, and a lively assortment of pets.
Voigt enlisted in the NDARNG in 2014 as an intelligence analyst. He earned a bachelor of arts in political science from the University of North Dakota( UND) and commissioned as an intelligence officer through the UND Reserve Officer Training Corps program in 2018. He later earned his juris doctor from the UND School of Law in 2021.
Following law school graduation, Voigt mobilized to the National Capital Region, where he served as a battalion intelligence officer in support of Operation Noble Eagle. After returning from his mobilization, Voigt began his legal career in Bismarck, where he primarily practiced family law. In 2023, he accepted a direct commission into the Judge Advocate General’ s Corps. His first assignment as a judge advocate was as assistant brigade judge advocate, where he advised company, battalion, and major command commanders on operational, fiscal, and administrative law and provided legal assistance to soldiers and their families through estate planning services.
