Matriculated Students seek employment so that they may continue to grow professionally while serving the Jewish community, and in order to earn income. Our matriculated students benefit from professional experiences during the time they are students at AJR in a variety of ways. As they advance in their knowledge and skills, students are required to engage in four trimesters of supervised fieldwork, with at least two of these trimesters spent in the synagogue / pulpit setting. In addition to synagogues, our students serve in a variety of settings that are appropriate for clergy, including college campuses, hospitals, communal service organizations, the classroom and more. The Director of Placement works with the Director of Fieldwork to support matriculated students as they move through the hiring process and well beyond. AJR is careful to skillfully support our students as they pursue and engage in employment opportunities, both for supervised fieldwork and as regular jobs in the field, and lend a highly personalized touch as they navigate their process. Faculty and other staf are available to assist in assessing and monitoring student progress so that performance in the field represents our highest standards.
For Synagogues and Other Institutions seeking clergy or student clergy, the Placement Office prides itself on its friendly and personalized service. We will be pleased to take the time to meet, listen carefully to your particular needs and post your job listing. We will do our best to identify excellent and appropriate candidates for your particular needs. After your hiring is complete, the Placement Office strives to maintain contact with members of search committees, making an efort to maintain ongoing relationships with our placement sites so that you are comfortable contacting us with referrals or with your own future requests.
For any questions regarding placement, please email or call me. I will be very happy to assist you.
