what MWIS has being doing all along in terms of trying to rationally overcome people ’ s resistance by explaining that this is actually better for your business . In the public works arena , DEI actually saves taxpayer money , which makes you more popular with the government agencies and which makes the government agencies ’ constituents happier . Diversifying your workforce pool can only benefit you . Our underrepresented contractors consistently knock themselves out and are proud of their work – they just want a chance to show what they can do , and you can ’ t get better than that .

To have HUB now be able to carry that torch and say , “ Look , we aren ’ t a minority-owned business , but we have already been recognizing how important diversity is for our success and how much it strengthens us because it ’ s also diversity of ideas , experience and approach , and all of that just makes us stronger .” Who better to advance diversity than a company that is already mainstream ? Darren : Ingrid and I spent a good amount of time talking about DEI and what resonated for me is that she wanted to broaden her work because she knew that the value of MWIS ’ work was most important . We agree – what better platform than an organization that is performing at the top financially to say that this is really good work that benefits all people . We talked about the flywheel of getting more skilled contractors capable of performing the work , who then enhance their work force , thereby contributing to the local economy and tax base – all the interconnected positive effects . To me , this went all the way back to working with my father in our family insurance brokerage and being told how important a role our services played within that community .
