that this is a major pillar of the community . Our independent brokage helped support businesses in being protected through insurance products , but also through our advice and counsel in how to make them a better operating business so that they could succeed . I saw that as part of what HUB was doing because as it acquired these independent agencies , it was really just spreading their platform out to bring more resources to those local communities so that we could do a better job of what was already being done as part of the local agencies ’ original premise of being a pillar of the community .
HUB also allowed me to scale based on the effort that I put in and my abilities . Obviously , I was a salesperson at one point – I went back , studied and was moved up and earned opportunities as we went along . So , the key draws for me were HUB ’ s commitment to local communities and the ability to move up within the organization – this is what has kept me here and I still have opportunities for professional growth even today .
CT : So it sounds like , instead of creating a homogenized conglomeration , HUB is supporting already successful local independent brokerages to be able to expand their offerings and reach , while applying HUB ’ s resources to streamline systems for greater efficiency , offer a broader range of products and services , capture greater market share , and everything else related to ensuring continued business success – but without removing the community connections and relationships with are really the bread and butter of any company .
Darren , can you speak to what about MWIS was appealing to HUB ?
Darren : In my first conversation with Ingrid , there were some clear themes that we both had : like-minded people really stood out and commitment to our communities was a big part of it . Our conversation got so involved that I never even bought her lunch like I was supposed to do – that ’ s how much the two of us were chatting about the values and priorities we have in common .
I believe we had a really good connection about how we both envisioned bringing our services to communities . It became apparent that we could be accretive to one another in that HUB could provide more resources to support what Ingrid ’ s organization was doing , and I was very interested in learning more about the good work that MWIS has done because I believe that it parallels everything that we do every day at HUB .
Also , Ingrid had talked about “ creating opportunities ” and while MWIS has been doing this on its own , I felt that this was also a great opportunity for HUB to be able to create a new offering that we can bring to scale nationally , especially because it fits in perfectly with what we do .
