TAKING TIME TO HEAL
I went out on a limb and decided to share my story on LinkedIn . In that post I revealed my decision to check myself into a mental health facility and expressed my gratitude that I work for a company that allows ( and continues to allow ) me the space to heal . I ’ ve been very open with my team and my leadership , and everyone has been incredibly caring . I ’ ve learned to slow down and take time for self-care . Especially with so many people still working remotely , I want to emphasize how important it is to do the little things that give you a sense of well-being . Maybe it ’ s texting a friend , sitting outside with your pet or working from your favorite coffee shop . Whatever works for you , embrace it and do it regularly .
I ’ m so blessed that I work for a company that allows ( and continues to allow ) me the space to heal .

THE ROLE OF LEADERS IN SHATTERING THE STIGMA OF MENTAL ILLNESS
In deciding whether to take my struggle public , I considered the role of a leader and the importance of authenticity . As a people manager , I think it ’ s critical to give one another room to be human . I ’ m so glad I did , because I ’ ve had a chance to help so many people — younger , older , people of different ethnic backgrounds , and men who fear that seeking help may be seen as a sign of weakness . If I can help others on their journey , then I know I ’ ve made the right choice .
