Summer 2022 | Page 3

Hi everyone ,
2022 has been full of surprises , but one exciting aspect of it has been coming back together and celebrating the Cox Culture . Seeing many of you for the first time in years has been the highlight for me and for many of us in leadership .
We started the spring with our first 34 by 34 roadshow event in Phoenix , and it then rolled across the country . The turnout has been extraordinary , and I ’ m happy to see that the Cox Culture is alive and well .
In my tenure as CEO , one of the most difficult things for me has been seeing empty offices as many people work remotely . The live events , informal discussions and mentoring , dropping in on lunch conversations in the cafeteria : These are all part of what make work fun . And I ’ m so glad it ’ s coming back .

In this edition of InSide Cox , you ’ ll find several important articles . I would like to draw your attention to two milestone celebrations . First , Jim Kennedy — our chairman emeritus and my predecessor and mentor — is celebrating his 50th year with Cox .
Jim has done more to build what we all know as the Cox Culture than any one person . He ’ s also been a steadfast leader through thick and thin , and we take this opportunity to honor and thank him . Thank you , Jim .
Next is Jill Campbell , who will retire at the end of the year . Jill started in Oklahoma a mere 40 years ago as a director of communications and rose through the ranks to become president and chief people and operations officer . It ’ s an extraordinary American story with many wonderful tales to be told . We look forward to celebrating that story through the rest of the year . Congratulations and thank you , Jill .
Karen Bennett will become our new chief people officer . I am excited to work more closely with her after watching her extraordinary impact at both Cox Media Group and Cox Communications .
Finally , we will highlight some of the most extraordinary work that has been done in the company for many years .
At Cox Communications , we are moving forward with a multibillion-dollar investment in a 10-gigabit-capable broadband infrastructure , which will be among the most advanced networks anywhere in the world . We ’ re investing more into bridging the digital divide in rural America through our first Fixed Wireless Access launch . Finally , we ’ re helping those who need it more during these times of skyrocketing inflation by participating in the Affordable Connectivity Program .
At Cox Automotive , we launched a new product called Unifi that streamlines business processes for our customers , allowing them to focus more on their customers . We are watching Spiers New Technologies grow as it ramps up its battery processing to more than 500 a week . This promises a wave of new business opportunities as electric vehicles hit the market .
Finally , at Cox Enterprises , we are investing in the future by finding new businesses that are making the world a better place and setting us up for growth in the years ahead . We recently purchased Mucci Farms , one of the leaders in controlled-environment agriculture . Mucci Farms is leading the way into a world where agriculture is more sustainable than current practices , more resilient to climate change and healthier for our families .
We also announced a majority acquisition of Axios — which is one of the most promising new media companies in America . We are excited about this business because of our history in journalism and our commitment to being part of the fabric of the communities where we do business . The Fourth Estate is among the most noble enterprises in America , and we believe it has to be kept healthy and strong for the next generation . Axios and its founders are committed to doing that .
I hope you all know you are part of something special here at Cox . There are always new challenges around the corner , but the one thing we have — which no one else has — is you . Thank you for helping us build a future we can all be proud of .
