putting their needs at the forefront of everything we do .”
Powering the Next-Gen Internet
Defend . Grow . Invest . These three words at the heart of Cox Communications ’ 2022 strategic priorities outline how the company continues to transform — and win — in the business of connectivity .
DEFEND AND EXPAND OUR CORE
DRIVE NEW AND ADJACENT GROWTH
INVEST IN OUR FOUNDATION , PEOPLE AND COMMUNITIES
These strategic priorities not only help Cox Communications achieve its 2022 goals ; they ’ re also blazing a trail toward its 2030 Ambition — invest in the network of the future , diversify its portfolio and deliver value to customers . This is what constant transformation looks like .
Expanding the Network
Currently , 750,000 homes within 30 miles of Cox ’ s existing footprint don ’ t have access to an average internet speed of 100 megabits per second ( Mbps ). In some cases , customers can ’ t even reach speeds more than 25 Mbps . That ’ s why Cox created a dedicated team to close this digital divide .
The Market Expansion Team ( MET ) is working with local teams to secure federal funding to increase broadband access in new service areas . The company is also investing $ 400 million of its own money over the next three years to reach customers in underserved and rural areas .

And when Cox comes to town , it brings its values and commitment to those communities while working with local leaders to implement smart community development and utility management solutions . These investments benefit both city operators and citizens by increasing public safety and improving traffic and parking management .

In response , Cox has already invested more than $ 19 billion in its network and products over the past 10 years to ensure its customers have robust internet , TV , phone , and home security and automation services . And there ’ s more to come .
Breakthrough enhancements to cable ’ s broadband technology combined with expanded fiber to the home will enable Cox to deliver multi-gigabit symmetrical speeds ( when upload and download speeds are the same ) in the coming years .
In fact , it recently began offering its first 2-gigabit symmetrical speeds in select neighborhoods . While 2G speeds aren ’ t available to all customers right now , they are offered to newly built homes in nearly all markets .
“ As future technologies emerge that benefit the consumer experience , our customers can depend on us for greater bandwidth and network reliability to power their increasingly digital lives ,” said Len Barlik , executive vice president and chief technology officer , Cox Communications . “ Our customers have counted on our speeds and reliable service for
