JILL CAMPBELL :
Forty Years of Building a Better Future
Come January , Jill Campbell will not report to work in a Cox building for the first time in 40 years .
Jill is set to retire on Dec . 31 , bringing to a close a long and distinguished career at Cox that started in 1982 at Cox Communications , at a time when there was no internet or mobile phone technology .
Her most recent position as president and chief people and operations officer for Cox Enterprises was the last of many stops along a career accentuated by numerous recognitions and achievements .
Jill started — and spent most of her career — with Cox Communications , when the information superhighway looked more like a dusty country road .
Her teams would consistently lead the industry in innovation and execution , including gigabit internet service , the launch of personal video recommendations and a pioneering investment in business telecom services . Jill ’ s leadership would ultimately land her a spot in the Cable Hall of Fame in 2017 .
In 2018 , Cox Enterprises Chairman and CEO Alex Taylor tapped Jill to be his chief people and operations officer . Together , they set about defining a clear vision for Cox ’ s future well beyond its legacy operations in news media , broadband communications and the automotive industry .
And when a pandemic gripped the world in 2020 , Jill was at the forefront of redefining our workplace to keep our employees as safe as possible and deftly , quickly adapt to a new way of doing business .
