Charlie French is a professional artist, whose
works have hung in galleries, been sold
online, and been commissioned by collectors
and organizations around the world. Charlie's
also a role model and advocate, who has
worked consciously to break down barriers and
inspire others to follow their passions and their
dreams.
Medium and Approach
Charlie is an intuitive, abstract artist – working conceptually through color, shape, and line – to produce large color fields inspired by emotion and remembrance. His tools are the traditional tools of the trade: canvas, paint, brushes, squeegees, palette knife, spray bottles, tape. But as the accompanying video created to document his work for the Texas Rangers baseball team attests, French is also an experimental artist: time and again he places a painted ball as one would in American t-ball to smack the painted ball against an empty canvas and rolls a painted bat across the canvas to give it texture, acts that in themselves embody the canvas with the joy one would gain through the experience of playing the game itself.
