Education Champion Network
The Education Champion Network supports promising education advocates and activists who are challenging the policies and practices that prevent girls from going to school in their communities. Offering three-year grants, the network invests in the work of champions, supports their professional development, and connects them with one another to develop “national, regional, and global networks.” Over the next two years, the Malala Fund will invest $7.8 million in Champions’ programs and advocacy campaigns.
Education Champions
Education champions are defined by the Malala Fund as “individuals who have a successful track record of addressing barriers to girls’ education in countries with the most girls out of school.” Nominations are presented to the Malala Fund from both organizations and
individuals, as well as through a recruitment process led by in-country experts. The fund
then engages in a rigorous analysis through which it identifies individuals it believes “are able to deliver, through their organizations, high-impact projects that advance girls’ education and create lasting change for girls.”
To date, the Malala Fund has supported 48 Education Champions in eight countries with the greatest need – namely Afghanistan, Brazil, Ethiopia, India, Lebanon, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey.
The Third Part of Her Story
The third part of Malala's story has yet to be written. But there is no doubt it will be as powerful as the first two. Why is that? Because as the Malala Fund states: “We don’t build schools. We build networks.”
In other words, from one will come many.
