NALJA News Summer 2022 | 7 any person or property that is caused directly or indirectly for any reason at those shows . The exhibitors , owners , their agents and representatives agree to indemnify NALJA and NALF and hold the organizations harmless for all damages , injuries , losses , expenses or liabilities they might incur at those shows , including any that may result from NALJA or NALF enforcing its rules and regulations . By entering the national or regional junior Limousin shows , the participants and their parents or guardians agree to the terms described in this section and agree to comply with all the rules and regulations governing those shows .
18 . ** NEW ** DNA Testing
New this year , the top five Owned Limousin and Lim-Flex Females , the top three Bred & Owned Females , and the top three Bulls will have their DNA pulled and tested , no exceptions . This will be an opportunity for the exhibitors to get their animal ’ s genetically enhanced EPDs , at no cost to them , to learn more about their animals .
19 . ** NEW ** Genotype & Phenotype Show
The Junior Board is excited about the Genotype / Phenotype Show and hope it will relay the importance of both genotype and phenotype to the juniors . This show will be held at 8:00 a . m . on Tuesday , June 28 and will consist of a judge ranking animals based of 50 percent genotype and 50 percent phenotype . Any registered female may participate if they have been genomically tested . DNA must be submitted by May 1 to the NALF office . You may enter multiple heifers , but the DNA cost will only be covered for one female per exhibitor . The NALF office asks that any DNA for this show be marked “ For National Junior Show .” No additional entry fee to enter this show .

This will serve as an educational event for junior members . All in all , we are excited to incorporate these new events and hope that they will positively impact our junior program .
Individual Sweepstakes Points
A ) Exhibiting Animals 1 . 100 points per animal shown ( 300 points maximum )
2 . 100 bonus points will go to all cattle exhibitors who meet the May 1 early-entry deadline with no errors , have all registrations and transfers completed , and have pre-registered for all of the satellite events in which they plan to participate . North American Limousin Junior Association ( NALJA ) members who are not exhibiting cattle but are participating in satellite events also can earn the bonus points if they pre-register by May 1 .
3 . Exhibitors showing animals in bred & owned will also receive additional sweepstakes points ; Below is a breakdown of the points :
Division winners : 20 points Division reserves : 10 points Grand champion : 50 points Reserve champion : 30 points
B ) Showmanship
1 . Exhibitors who participate in showmanship will receive 100 points .
2 . The champion in each age division will receive 75 additional points ; all others in the top ten for their division will receive 50 additional points .
C ) Satellite Events
NALJA members must compete in the same age division across all contests , except showmanship , where past champions must move up . Ages will be the individual ’ s age as of January 1 , 2022 . Members must enter all individual satellite events by May 15 , 2022 . Late entry for satellite events ( Photo , Magazine Ad , Public Speaking , Showmanship ) will be accepted until the end of check in Sunday , June 26 , 2022 for a fee of $ 100 per exhibitor ( not per event ). Members will not be able to late enter in to the judging contest , if members do not sign up for the judging contest by May 15 members will have the opportunity to judge in the Adult division . Once check-in is complete members will not be able to enter in to the events .
Novice : 5-9 years of age Junior : 10-13 years of age Intermediate : 14-16 years of age Senior : 17-21 years of age
D ) Public Speaking , Photography , Judging and Magazine Advertisement Contests 1 . Each contestant will receive 100 points for participation in each event .
2 . Points will be awarded in each age division according to the following schedule :
1st : 100 points 2nd : 80 points
4th : 50 points 5th : 40 points
3rd : 60 points 3 . At the conclusion of the National Junior Limousin Show and Congress ( NJLSC ), sweepstakes participants may request their scores and copies of their score sheets for each event in which they participated . Participants may request only their own scores . NALJA will not release other participants ’ scores .
