Private Art Gallery Tour for Alumni Parents

“ What we call abstract painting is about creating a space for thought , a way to open the mind up and allow space for the other senses … when you look at them , you absorb an experience .” — Marina Adams
The Alumni Parents Council sponsored an in-person cultural event in May : a private art gallery tour featuring a solo exhibition by painter Marina Adams at the gallery LGDR on East 89th Street . Adams is known for colorful abstract paintings that are both biomorphic and geometric , and for depicting the painting process . Following the tour , alumni parents , faculty and staff caught up during a reception across the street at Saint David ’ s .

Winter Chapel Talks by Brij Gautum ’ 16 and Andrew Jabban ’ 05

Brij Gautum ’ 16 and Andre Jabban ’ 05 gave Chapel talks to our seventh and eighth graders during the winter of 2022 . Brij , who attends Fordham , spoke of Saint David ’ s as a true community where faculty and staff go beyond their job descriptions as a matter of course , because they care so much . He also touched on the importance of embracing change in order to grow , no easy task for those of us who are creatures of habit . He offered the recent expansion of the school as an example : “ Saint David ’ s had to change in order to grow into what it is today . And so did I . I ’ ve always had a solid work ethic but like Saint David ’ s , I needed to expand a little bit . Saint David ’ s reached its full potential the same way its faculty and staff did , by going above and beyond .”
Andre spoke of the important lessons the boys learn during their time at Saint David ’ s . “ The decisions you make will define if you are a good man ,” he said . Andre , who remains close with his Saint David ’ s classmates , encouraged the eighth graders to maintain their connection with their fellow graduates .
