Sixth Grade in Our Nation ’ s Capital
The Sixth Grade Washington , D . C . study tour was back this year . Over three days in early May , the boys explored the United States capital and observed the institutions of our democracy in action . Highlights included visits to the National Museum of American History , a private tour of the US-Capitol Building , a meeting with New York Senator Gilibrand , and an evening tour of national monuments . All of the activities deepened boys ’ understanding of topics they studied this year , particularly in their American history and science courses . Said Upper School Head Alexis Aoyama , “ We were excited to embark again on what has quickly become a Saint David ’ s tradition . There is nothing like experiencing first-hand the importance of democracy and citizenship !”
Summer Study in Spain
The Spain Summer Study trip returned with 55 members from the Classes of 2022 and 2023 participating . Featuring mornings of Spanish language immersion classes and afternoons and evenings of cultural experiences like flamenco dancing , games of football with local boys , and a trip to a bullfighting ring , the Tenth Annual Spain Summer Study was an enriching milestone in the lives of our boys .
