The average cost of a college education has more than doubled over the last 20 years . The rising cost for everything from tuition to books can make the path to college seem daunting and cost-prohibitive for many graduating high school seniors and their families .
The Jim Kennedy Scholarship Fund helps offset the cost of college tuition for children of Cox employees . Each year , an independent committee selects 15 scholarship recipients based on financial need and demonstrated commitment to personal growth .
Established and personally funded by Cox Enterprises Chairman Jim Kennedy in 2008 , each scholarship provides $ 10,000 annually toward tuition for up to four years and is open to any high school senior whose parent has worked at a Cox company full time for at least three years .
Since its inception , 140 scholarships have been awarded , totaling $ 5.6 million . Congratulations to the 2021 recipients , who will be venturing off to colleges and universities across the country this fall in pursuit of their dreams .
