GROWING BUSINESS SERVICES
Our agreement to acquire the commercial services segment of Segra is a big step forward for Cox Business and we expect to close the transaction this year. Segra is a leading fiber-based provider servicing business customers in nine states in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast.
NEW WAYS TO CONNECT
Things are moving at an accelerated pace as Cox Communications explores a new consumer wireless offering. The worlds of wired and wireless communications continue to blend, and we have a solid strategy for competing in wireless and converged connectivity. There’ s still a lot going on behind the scenes, but look for a pilot launch later this year.
In April 2021 Cox Communications signed an agreement to acquire Segra, one of the largest privately held fiber infrastructure providers in the U. S.
INNOVATIVE THINKING
Need to find a needle in a haystack? Cox2M provides customers with the turnkey ability to monitor and track commercial assets: Think about finding one specific vehicle in a car lot of thousands. It’ s also currently conducting a pilot program in Las Vegas with“ smart parking spots” that use video analytics and curb management technology to better manage traffic congestion and pedestrian safety.
The shape of the internet is evolving. Technologies like augmented reality, Internet of Things and artificial intelligence drive the need for real-time data processing and response from the network. These and other innovations can benefit from Cox Edge, launched this summer. This service leverages Cox’ s last-mile locations and powerful network to bring compute power and cloud infrastructure closer to the action— to where users are engaging and to where sensor data is being created.
Cox Communications is preparing to launch wireless mobile service to Cox Internet customers.
