Borderless: The Art of Luis Tapia delves deeper into Tapia's artistic legacy from the early 1970s

to today as a celebrated and influential figure in Chicano art and New Mexican art.

In this full-length study of Tapia's career, leading art historians, curators, and literary figures consider Tapia's refined craftsmanship and insightful commentary as visual and social touchstones for a tradition in transition. Writing from different critical and scholarly perspectives, the authors celebrate Tapia's impact as a visionary contemporary realist whose influence has paved the way for othr artists following his lead.

Borderless highlights more than 100 color photographs of works spanning the colorful spectrum of Tapia's expression, including pieces from the collections of the Smithsonian Institution, Denver Art Museum, Autry Museum, El Museo del Barrio, Museum of International Folk Art, and elsewhere.
